IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho State Police District 6 office in Idaho Falls opens today, Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026. The nearly $17 million building at 1155 Foote Drive brings eastern Idaho's troopers and detectives under one roof for the first time, according to Idaho State Police. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with ISP leadership and Idaho Sen. Kelly Anthon marks the opening.

What's inside the new District 6 office

The facility has about 24,000 square feet of workspace, plus extra areas for training and storage, ISP said. Permanent training mats and an indoor firearms simulator will let staff train year-round, and trailers, specialized equipment and other gear can be stored indoors, out of eastern Idaho's weather. The Post Register reported the building also includes the Bunderson Training Room.

NBW Architects designed the facility, and Bateman-Hall was the general contractor. Planning started about three years ago, and construction began in spring 2025.

Patrol and investigations under one roof

About 26 troopers and eight detectives will work from the new office. District 6 is the last ISP district to move patrol and investigations into a single facility, and ISP expects the change to save taxpayers about $100,000 a year in separate leased office costs.

"Our troopers and detectives have always worked closely together, but there is a real benefit to having everyone in the same place," District 6 Captain Chris Weadick said in the ISP announcement. "It makes it easier to communicate, share information, and solve problems together."

ISP Director Colonel Bill Gardiner said the building "provides our employees with the space and resources they need and prepares District 6 for the future."

How the project was paid for

The nearly $17 million project was funded through the state's Permanent Building Fund, according to ISP and the Post Register.
