Job Purpose The primary responsibilities of the Utilities Technician is to work as a mechanic with duties pertaining to the operation, installation, training, troubleshooting, and repairing of all plant boiler, utilities systems and equipment. This position is considered a Millwright and the qualified candidate should be capable of doing most jobs in the maintenance field with great skill.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintains and promotes company standards for safety, quality, food safety, sanitation and GMPs
- Understand basic applications of electrical and controls safety requirements within the maintenance department
- Responsible for all tasks associated with installing, operating, repairing, inspecting, testing and maintaining stationary equipment including boilers, other heating system, generators, refrigeration and turbines used in industrial manufacturing process as well as pumps, piping systems, valves, gauges, pressure relief devices, steam traps, boiler safeties, and control panel
- Performs preventative and predictive maintenance on boilers as well as their components to avoid problems before they occur including maintenance records and other routine paperwork, as required
- Conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges, and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts
