Hello everyone! I’m Michelle Penick, and today I’m taking you through the beautiful city of Boise, Idaho. Now, while many might think of Idaho as the land of potatoes, I’m here to tell you it offers an abundance of outdoor adventures, vibrant culture, and—most importantly—a warm friendly attitude towards our furry friends, like my co-host Buster!
We started our adventure on the iconic Boise River Greenbelt. Stretching an impressive 25 miles, this beautiful pathway along the river has become one of the top attractions in the Treasure Valley. With a network of scenic trails, it’s a perfect spot for dog lovers to explore. Walking alongside the water, Buster and I couldn’t help but soak in the stunning views and the crisp, fresh air that makes Boise so special.
After our rejuvenating walk, it was time to quench our thirst at a place that takes relaxation to a whole new level—TAYIA Winery.
As I walked through the door of TAYIA, I was welcomed by Carri Sullivan, one of the winery’s owners and a passionate winemaker. This retreat isn’t just about great wine; it’s all about creating memorable experiences. Carri shared that TAYIA is inspired by her love for two places— the Teton mountain range and Solapa, which means beach in Spanish. It’s all about capturing the essence of relaxation.
What’s truly fascinating is that Carri and her husband embarked on this winery journey as a family venture. After realizing that the corporate grind wasn’t cutting it for their growing family, they decided to pursue something that combined their scientific backgrounds with their passion for community—creating exceptional wines! As we toured the winery, I could feel the love and dedication that goes into every bottle, not to mention the inviting atmosphere for folks to unwind with friends and, of course, their beloved pets!
Next on our adventure, we headed to Meridian to check out a spot that takes dog-friendly fun to the next level: Pups and Pints. When we arrived, I was greeted by co-owner Michelle Johnson and her adorable assistant, Liberty. Newly opened, Pups and Pints is all about community—not just for humans but for dogs, too!
What sets Pups and Pints apart is their commitment to ensuring a clean environment for our four-legged companions. By requiring dog owners to register and verify their pets’ health and behavior, they’ve set the stage for an enjoyable experience. Buster and I were excited to learn about upcoming events, including a small breed gathering and meet-ups for senior or shy dogs.
So, whether you’re pinning the tail on a rewarding glass of wine at TAYIA or catching up with fellow dog lovers at Pups and Pints, Boise is overflowing with opportunities to enjoy life with your furry friends. Why choose between a night out with friends or an evening in with Buster when you can have both?
