Caldwell, Idaho Gets a Second Fred Meyer at Karcher Commons

Article
CALDWELL — Caldwell is getting a second Fred Meyer before the first one even opens. The retailer announced a new store and fuel center at the northeast corner of Karcher Road and South Indiana Avenue, planned to open in 2028, the Idaho Press reported on Oct. 21, 2026.
The numbers
Fred Meyer and Westland Development are putting more than $100 million combined into the project. Fred Meyer's first Caldwell store, a $64 million location off Middleton Road and Highway 20/26, broke ground in March and is nearing completion.
Karcher Commons
The new store will anchor Karcher Commons, Westland Development's roughly 60-acre master-planned project. Caldwell City Council approved it in 2023 with:
- 20 commercial lots - 336 multifamily units - 196 townhome-style apartments
> "Caldwell and the surrounding communities continue to experience tremendous growth, and we're excited to invest in this area's future," said Fred Meyer President Todd Kammeyer.
Two Fred Meyers in one city tells you everything about how fast this side of Canyon County is growing.
