Nampa, Idaho: Downtown Block 2 Land Swap Clears Way for 134+ Apartments and Retail

Article
NAMPA — Downtown Nampa just took a big step toward its next major project. On Oct. 19, 2026, the City Council approved a property exchange that hands about 1.895 acres in the downtown core to the Nampa Development Corp., the city's urban renewal agency. In return, the city gets about 1.448 acres at First Street South and Seventh Avenue South, near the Hugh Nichols Public Safety Building, according to the Idaho Business Review.
What could go on Block 2
The site, known as Block 2, sits between 13th and 14th avenues South and Front and First streets South. BoiseDev reported that early plans call for at least 134 market-rate apartments, around 18,000 square feet of retail, office space, public amenities and parking.
> "This is a critical step towards redeveloping the block and bringing market-rate housing, public gathering spaces, retail and office space to our downtown area," said Steve Jenkins, Nampa's economic development director.
What's next
The agency plans to issue a request for proposals in the coming months and pick a developer in early 2027. Over the next year it will meet with downtown businesses, restaurant owners, nonprofits and residents and share renderings of what the block could look like.
