Post Falls is getting a bigger Super 1 Foods.
The McIntire family is building a new about 56,000-square-foot store at Highway 41 and Prairie Avenue. Groundbreaking was scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday after the Aug. 29, 2026 announcement, putting shovels in the ground around Sept. 3. Co-owner Randy McIntire said the store will have a larger deli, a larger produce department, and a much larger natural foods section than their other locations.
They picked the Highway 41 and Prairie corner because it sits near the center of where Kootenai County growth is heading. McIntire called it the center of population for the county. It is the first store he and his dad, Ron, have built since 2020, when they opened locations in Oldtown and Athol.
This will be the 17th Super 1 Foods in the family’s portfolio: nine in Idaho and eight in Montana. The first store opened in Hayden in 1970. The Coeur d’Alene store dates to 1985. The company already has locations in Post Falls, Rathdrum, Sandpoint, and Bonners Ferry.
Construction is expected to wrap in late fall 2027. McIntire said future expansion is still on the table after this one.
