As an Industrial Hygienist at Micron Technology, you will play a critical role in protecting people, property, and the environment within a leading semiconductor manufacturing facility. You will partner with engineers, technicians, managers, and contractors to identify, assess, and control workplace hazards while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

This position supports both construction and manufacturing environments, driving proactive risk management, continuous improvement, and world-class safety performance. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, data-driven decision making, and innovative technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to enhance Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support Industrial Hygiene (IH) and safety programs across construction and manufacturing environments, ensuring effective implementation of company requirements and safety management systems.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene assessments, task-based risk assessments, process hazard analyses, HAZOPs, and other evaluations to identify hazards and verify effective controls.
  • Review facility, equipment, and system designs to ensure regulatory compliance and integration of Safety by Design standards.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve IH and safety programs, procedures, training, and operational standards that protect employees and assets.
  • Perform compliance audits, coordinate regulatory inspections, and monitor regulatory changes to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and other unplanned events to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Analyze safety and industrial hygiene performance metrics, communicate findings to site leadership, and support Occupational Health and Safety Management System improvements.
  • Use AI-enabled tools, workflows, and data analytics to improve program effectiveness, identify trends, predict potential risks, and drive proactive risk reduction strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience conducting industrial hygiene, safety, risk assessment, or regulatory compliance activities in an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or related environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence multi-functional teams and work effectively with all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze complex problems, and implement projects with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with standard business software and data management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of professional experience in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or progress toward professional certification.
  • Experience supporting large-scale manufacturing, semiconductor, construction, or high-tech industrial operations.
  • Experience conducting process hazard analyses, HAZOPs, exposure assessments, and regulatory compliance audits.
  • Experience employing data analytics, automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve EHS program performance and decision-making.
