Hailey is getting a closer look at one of the Wood River Valley’s biggest proposed housing projects.

Boise-based Oppenheimer Development Corp. is hosting a public open house Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at The Mint (116 S. Main St. in Hailey) for Blaine Crossing, a planned mixed-use community on Flying Hat Ranch east of Highway 75 between Hailey and Bellevue.

Plans tied to a proposed 108.8-acre annexation into Hailey call for about 614 residential units with both workforce and market-rate housing, plus light industrial space, service-oriented commercial uses, and a possible 100-room hotel. Architecture firm GGLO has presented a concept with multi-family and single-family housing, commercial space, and trail connections, including an extension of the Toe of the Hill Trail.

Developers Skip and Doug Oppenheimer have said the project will not solve the valley’s full housing shortage, but they call it a step toward keeping working families close to jobs, services, and trails. Project materials also point to water rights that exceed Blaine Crossing’s needs and water-wise design as part of the annexation application.

Hailey City Council has already approved a review agreement that lets the annexation application move forward with required studies on traffic, floodplain, avalanche, wildlife, water rights, and fiscal impact. The development team has also outlined about 25.76 acres for Blaine County Recreation District athletic fields, with a larger Bellevue annexation request still in the mix for later phases.
