Eagle, Idaho Advances Eagle Regional Athletic Park Off Highway 16

Eagle, Idaho

EAGLE – The City of Eagle is pushing ahead on the Eagle Regional Athletic Park (ERAP), an approximately 80-acre multi-use sports complex just off Highway 16 at N. Pollard Lane / Equest Lane in the Eagle foothills. Official project pages describe a phased athletic hub meant to serve youth leagues, adult sports, regional tournaments, and recreation for years to come.

For families considering a move to Eagle, Idaho, ERAP is one of the clearest signals of how the west side of the Treasure Valley is building long-term athletic capacity alongside new housing growth. City materials repeatedly tie the park to replacing ball fields lost to development and to giving west Eagle a permanent place to play.

Where it is and how big it is

The dedicated ERAP site at eagleregionalathleticpark.org places the park on an 80-acre lot nestled in the Eagle foothills, off Highway 16 at N. Pollard Lane. The City of Eagle project page places the park off Highway 16 at Equest Lane and notes a larger overall park area of about 139.11 acres, with roughly 80 acres dedicated to the sports and ballfield complex. Building parks on the outer city limits, the city says, reduces sports-related traffic through residential neighborhoods.

The city page also notes planned trailhead access to about 2,200 BLM acres east of the site, extending the park beyond organized sports into open-space recreation.

Phase 1: baseball and softball first

Construction is planned in multiple phases. The City broke ground on Phase 1 on October 6, 2023. According to the official ERAP site, Phase 1 key features include four natural-grass baseball/softball diamonds, dugouts, a paved access road, and parking.

As of February 2026, the City of Eagle reports completed work that includes State Highway 16 and Pollard Lane access (including acceleration and deceleration lanes), roadway improvements with curb, gutter, and paving, and utility sleeves. The ERAP site and FAQ also list land acquisition, preliminary grading for the four ball fields, Highway 16 and park access improvements, and underground utility conduit for Phase 1 (with sewer and water ready for installation alongside field construction).

The city has contracted with McAlvain Companies, Inc. for Construction Management / General Contractor (CM/GC) services and has been procuring a Design Professional through a Request for Qualifications. Once design is locked, the city says it will coordinate with the CM/GC and designer on the remainder of Phase 1: building the four baseball/softball fields.

City FAQ language states that once funding is secured, construction of the fields and facilities could begin as early as Spring 2026. An earlier CM/GC RFQ posted by the city estimated total project cost in the $22 million to $27 million range and flagged late Spring 2026 as a target to begin construction, depending on funding.

What the full vision includes

Future phases depend on donation and sponsorship support. The official vision page describes a multi-generational park that may include baseball, soccer, softball, football, lacrosse, rugby, tennis, pickleball, playgrounds, a fishing pond, and walking trails. Concept plans, amenities, and programming are subject to change.

The City of Eagle concept materials show a multi-use layout with baseball/softball diamonds, flex fields for soccer and similar sports, tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds, pavilions/restrooms, parking, and perimeter trails. At fuller build-out, earlier city briefing language has described additional ball fields and grass flex fields, plus picnic facilities, play equipment, trails, and a multi-user trailhead for bikes, equestrian use, and hiking into BLM land.

How land and partnership fit together

ERAP is a City of Eagle project advanced through a public-private land partnership tied to the Valnova / GWC side of west Eagle. City history notes that on December 20, 2022, Eagle purchased 84 acres from GWC off State Highway 16 and Equest Lane (adjacent to 10 acres previously purchased) under a structure that included a cash payment and a park impact fee reimbursement agreement tied to builders in the Valnova development. The ERAP site credits a generous partnership with Valnova Development for helping complete early Phase 1 groundwork.

One stated city goal has been to provide a permanent home for Little League fields lost when Duck Alley was developed.

Donation campaign and next steps

The City of Eagle has launched a public donation campaign for ERAP. Individuals, businesses, and organizations can contribute monetary or in-kind gifts, and the city offers sponsorship and recognition options, including a donor “Hall of Fame.” Donations and questions are directed through eagleregionalathleticpark.org and Donate@cityofeagle.org. The city says it will maintain the park and manage field reservations through its existing reservation system once Phase 1 is complete.

Idaho News 6 (KIVI) has also covered the project, reporting city leaders’ emphasis on Highway 16 accessibility, the shortage of west-side athletic space, and McAlvain Construction’s role as construction partner. That coverage is consistent with the official city and ERAP materials summarized above.

For people shopping homes in Eagle or watching Valnova-area growth, the takeaway is practical: Eagle is building a regional athletic park on the Highway 16 corridor, Phase 1 centers on four baseball/softball fields with access and utilities already advanced, and later courts, flex fields, and trails remain tied to fundraising and phased design.
