BOISE — City of Boise leaders, members of the Harris family, neighbors, and project partners broke ground Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, on Alta Harris Park, a new 20-acre riverside community park along Eckert Road in Southeast Boise that will connect to the Boise River Greenbelt, according to the City of Boise.
The park is Boise’s 103rd and part of the city’s “Ribbon of Jewels” series of riverside parks. Phase 1 frontage improvements on Eckert Road — including a pedestrian signal crossing, curb and gutter, sidewalks, utilities, irrigation, and two park entrances — are complete. Phase 2 is moving ahead with parking, pathways, three soccer fields, irrigated lawn, a Greenbelt connection, and wetland reconstruction near the finished frontage.
City funding for construction is about $3.7 million. After the Phase 2 bid came in above the original fiscal year 2026 budget, the Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee approved $395,000 in Regional Impact Fee funds on July 8, and Boise City Council approved an Interim Budget Change on Aug. 11, 2026, to close the gap. The Harris family donated about $1.5 million, and the Southern Idaho Soccer League contributed $184,000.
The approved master plan also calls for a nature playground, shade shelters, bocce courts, pickleball courts, and a permanent restroom. City officials say additional budget is still needed before the pickleball courts can be built, and a full completion date for the park has not been announced.
